Abstract

Abscisic Acid (ABA) is a core phytohormone for plants to respond to drought stress and balance growth and stress resistance. This paper reviews the upstream perception and initiation of the ABA signaling pathway, the SnRK1-TOR energy hub, transcriptional regulation and downstream responses, as well as the crosstalk mechanism between ABA and other phytohormones including auxin and brassinosteroid (BR). It focuses on the regulatory logic of key nodes in each module, and reveals the dynamic regulatory principle of ABA through a multi-level network to maintain growth under non-stress conditions and promote drought resistance under stress conditions. This review provides a theoretical framework for analyzing the molecular mechanism of the plant growth-drought resistance trade-off and crop stress resistance breeding.
